La IDE de República Checa de orientación nacional, se basa en un volumen considerable de conjuntos de datos fragmentados en diversos proyectos e instituciones. Existe un gran número de geoportales (algunos en funcionamiento desde el año 2000) ampliamente conocidos y utilizados por la administración pública, empresa privada y también como recurso didáctico en la educación. Según cifras de acceso el geoportal más consultado es el de la Oficina Checa de Topografía, Cartografía y Catastro (COSMC) con 36,5 millones de solicitudes procesadas al año.
Los servicios de datos espaciales son generados por las instituciones públicas, sin embargo, cada día aumentan las empresas privadas que generan servicios con algún valor añadido. En cuanto a metadatos es obligatorio desde el año 2008 que todos los conjuntos de datos publicados en el geoportal nacional tengan sus metadatos. Estos son publicados a través del sistema MICKA (Czech Metadata System) y el catálogo de metadatos MIDAS (Main on-line metadata service for GI), en ambos casos se publican empleando un tesauro bilingüe en checo e inglés.
Según el informe Spatial Data Infrastructures in Czech Republic: State of play 2010, existen una serie de acuerdos de cooperación para compartir datos que cubren todos los niveles de la administración pública . Sin embargo en la práctica existen una serie de barreras que impiden que la información fluya entre las organizaciones dependientes de los ministerios.
Hay un comité de coordinación de INSPIRE (INCOCO) compuesto por 22 miembros permanentes. Este comité tiene entre otras la misión de asegurar la cooperación entre las entidades competentes en la infraestructura checa de INSPIRE, de manera que aumente la interoperabilidad y el acceso a conjuntos de datos y servicios.
La transposición de la Directiva INSPIRE se llevo a cabo con la enmienda a la Ley nº 123/1998 sobre el Derecho a la Información Medioambiental, mediante el Decreto nº 103/2010 de 30 de abril.
Existe un sitio Web oficial dedicado íntegramente a INSPIRE, que constituye la principal fuente de información sobre las temáticas relacionadas con la Directiva. En paralelo a la creación de este sitio Web, se creó el National Geo-portal que incluye todos los conjuntos de datos (previa resolución del grupo de trabajo ‘Development of the Current National Geo-portal’ GT10 ) que han sido seleccionados para ser publicados en el geoportal nacional.
En total se puede tener acceso a cerca de 4 terabytes de datos y 90 servicios de mapas. Este geoportal está en proceso de reestructuración y se espera que en 2012 este en funcionamiento la versión definitiva, que deberá cumplir con las obligaciones de INSPIRE, además de ser un instrumento de apoyo para la administración pública.
En el seguimiento INSPIRE correspondiente al año 2009 se informaron 67 conjuntos de datos y 30 servicios de datos espaciales. Los datos del último seguimiento aún no han sido publicados.

The national SDI in Czech Republic is based on a considerable amount of fragmented data sets in various projects and institutions. There are a number of geoportals (some in operation since 2000) widely known and used by the government, private companies and also as a teaching material in education. According to access figures the most visited geo-portal is the Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre (COSMC) with 36.5 million processed requests per year.
The spatial data services are generated by public institutions, however, each day increase the number of private companies that generate some value added services. Concerning the metadata, it is mandatory since 2008 that all data sets published in the national geo-portal have metadata. These are published through the system MICKA (Czech Metadata System) and MIDAS metadata catalog (Main on-line service metadata for GI), in both cases using a bilingual thesaurus published in Czech and English.
According to the report in Spatial Data Infrastructures CzechRepublic: State of play 2010, it exists a series of cooperative agreements to share data covering all levels of government. However in practice there are a number of barriers to the information flow between organizations under the ministries.
There is a Coordination Committee of INSPIRE (INCOCO) composed of 22 permanent members. This committee has the task, among others, of ensuring cooperation between the competent institutions in the Czech INSPIRE infrastructure, so as to increase interoperability and access to data sets and services.
